FAQs

  • We usually use APC Overnight but may occasionally use Royal Mail or DPD too. You should recieve an estimated delivery time slot via text or email on the morning of your delivery.

  • Our couriers are asked to leave our boxes in a safe space if there is one available. You should be able to tell them where you’d like it left via their online tracking system. If you aren’t home and it can’t be left in a safe space the courier will usually reattempt the delivery on the next working day. The boxes should keep it cold long enough for that. If a delivery was attempted but you weren’t home, then unfortunately we can’t refund or replace it as it is your responsibility to be home for the delivery.

  • Sadly we can’t do orders less than £65 as we offer free delivery. But you can split orders with fellow meat lovers such as friends, family, neighbours or colleagues. As long as we post it to one address, you can split it as many ways as you like, and remember, the more you buy in bulk, the more you can save.

  • None of the meat that we sell at Lancashire Lamb Boxes is religiously slaughtered. Our sheep, cattle and pigs are all slaughtered using a bolt gun (and pithing rod if necessary) at a local, small scale slaughterhouse.

Whilst we are aware there is huge interest in what we do and we know many people wanting halal or kosher meat would also love to support us, unfortunately it is not something we will be starting to do in the future. We have a huge amount of customers who do not wish to eat religiously slaughtered meat.

  • Although we farm very cautiously of the environment and are careful with any medications we use, we aren’t organic. Our meat doesn’t contain antibiotics or growth hormones as both those things are illegal in all British meat.

We don’t spray any pesticides on the fields.

If we do have to give an animal any medication (including antibiotics for an infection) then it will be treated on an individual basis, the animal then cannot enter the food chain until the medication is out of its system, this is called a with-hold period.

All growth hormones are illegal in the UK.

We do lots of things around the farm to increase biodiversity, including having 35 wildlife scrapes which encourage insects to breed, which then provides birds with an abundant food source.

We work closely to try and encourage as many birds to the farm as possible, we have Lapwings, curlews, pheasants, oyster catchers, red shank, snipe, wagtails, and many other birds that all choose to nest here.

  • No, we don’t use Bovaer or anything similar. Our cattle are perfect the way they are- farts ‘n’ all!

  • Yes you can! Simply add the individual items you would like to buy into your basket and check out. Please remember there is a £65 minimum order amount.

  • If you’d prefer leaner cuts or fattier cuts please put it in the comment section at the checkout to let us know.

  • There is a box you can click on the main screen of the website that will take you through to the Raffall website. We do several raffles each month.

  • There is gluten in our sausages and burgers. If you aren’t able to have gluten, we can swap these out for a similar value of mince. Please put it in the comment section at the checkout to let us know. All major allergens are listed on the listing, but if you need any clarification it is always best to contact us.

  • If you realise your box hasn’t arrived on time, please contact us (use the ‘contact us’ page on here to email us) an we can loo into it with the courier. You can also contact them yourself whilst waiting for us to respond.

The boxes are designed to keep it cold an extra day so don’t panic. Obviously we’ll do what we can to get the courier to deliver it on time.

  • We do not use any vaccines with MRNA technology. We don’t use many vaccines, however we will always choose to do what is best for the animals. We only vaccinate against something if it’s a problem we’re experiencing on our farm.

There is currently also no vaccines with MRNA technology that are certified for use in the UK for sheep or cattle. I believe there is one for pigs, but we don’t use it and I don’t know anyone that does. It is not commonly used.

  • Keep an eye on your emails as we will email you to ask for the correct delivery address. Congratulations! Your meat box will be delivered to you shortly. Once you have received your box, please log back into your Raffall account to confirm you’ve received it. Enjoy!

  • Yes, however we can’t promise we will always be able to swap it for what you want. We will always try to swap it for something of a similar value. Please put it in the comment section at the checkout. Ideally also tell us why you can’t have it, e.g. “gluten” or “don’t like mince”, then we can choose an alternative item that would be likely to be suitable. We will always try to swap it for what you’d like it swapped for though.

We only allow a max of 2 product types to be swapped out. e.g. 2x mince beef and 1x mince lamb would count as 2 product types, not 3.

If you’re in any doubt, feel free to contact us before ordering.

Please note, you cannot swap things in the quarter, half or whole meat boxes unless it is just a change of butchery. For example you can’t swap the liver in the half beef box for extra mince. But you could swap stewing steaks for extra diced as that is the same bit, just butchered differently.

  • TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube

  • Sadly not, our brisket is too popular in the smaller roasting joints so we don’t have enough to be able to offer a whole brisket option. We are just a small business so have limited amount of everything.

  • Unfortunately we don’t know as it depends what we sell. For example we can’t just sell the lamb chop/cutlets from the lamb, we have to sell the whole animal. We will restock things as often as we can. Sadly we can’t reserve them for you. Often things sell out within a few minutes of being restocked as there is high demand for them.

Please feel free to share your favourite recipes with us via email too

  • Please use either the “Contact Us” page on the website which will send us an email, or message us via social media. We do monitor our messages as much as possible but it can take a few days to get a response as we are very busy with farm jobs and a baby too.

  • We don’t have set hours. You can order from us any time of day. You can also contact us any time of day. We work every day of the week although we try to reply to less emails over the weekend, particularly Sundays. We will always get back to you as soon as possible. • Pigs can’t thrive on grass alone so our pork is never 100% grass fed. They receive forage in the form of grass/hay/silage alongside a barley grain mixed feed.

Although most of our sheep only ever eat grass, we still want the ability to offer them supplementary feed if we feel it in necessary. This will always be given alongside grass/hay/silage.

Our cattle will almost all have a mixed diet throughout different points in their lives. All our cattle have to be indoors between December and March as the government requires that to lower their carbon footprint. Whilst they are in the barn (which they love to be honest) they are still fed mainly grass, but in the form of hay or silage. However, they also get a barley feed alongside it so that they don’t end up with stunted growth rates or malnourishment. We live on a hill farm and the quality of the grass, especially in the hay can be lacking a lot nutritionally. Supplementing their diet means they get everything they need nutritionally. Towards their end of their time on our farm we aim to give the cattle “100 days of barley” and this means that they are slowly allowed to eat more and more of the super yummy barley mix which helps them get fat. In effect we let them eat the best food of their lives for the last 100 days. They still eat most of their diet as grass/hay/silage, but they are allowed to eat as much of the barley mix as they want to. This provides a good, even finish and means we have a more uniform product that tastes amazing.

  • We do free UK wide delivery.

That includes England, Wales, Scotland, Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man.

  • We currently have a long lead time on orders.

The next available delivery date is always written on the home page of the website. When you get to the checkout you will be given a list of available delivery dates to choose from. If you can’t remember what date you chose, it will be at the bottom of your order confirmation email that you received immediately after you placed your order.

After you’ve ordered, the next communication from us will be an email once your meat has been butchered, packaged and the shipping has been booked. This will happen the day before it is sent out. Once you receive this email, your meat should be with you the following day. You will get a text (to the mobile number you provided) with a 2 hour delivery time slot estimate once it is out for delivery.

  • Please contact us as soon as possible. Unfortunately due to this happening a lot, we now will try to refund you and ask that you re-order with the correct details. Incorrect details holds us up a lot as we manually have to remember to change it. If we forget (we are super busy and due to a long lead time on orders atm) we are likely to forget. If we then sent it to the original incorrect address it would cost us a lot of money replacing the order. PLEASE TRIPLE CHECK ALL DETAILS BEFORE CHECKING OUT!

If you don’t give us the correct address before it is shipped you will be fully liable for that parcel and we accept no responsibility for it going to the incorrect address that you gave us. Please let us know if you realise you gave the wrong address after it has been shipped though as we may still be able to redirect it. This usually comes with an additional charge of around £30 which we incur from the courier. This will be payable to us before it is delivered.

  • Almost everything we send out is just chilled. We do occasionally have to freeze something though. If this is the case it will still be frozen on delivery. Once you receive your meat box you can either cook and eat it, refrigerate it or freeze it. Please defrost properly before cooking.

Everything we sell is labelled to say it can be frozen.

The amount of time you can store it in the freezer will depend on the star rating of your freezer and the cut of meat that it is, Google will have a more in depth explanation for this that can be best suited to your freezer. Typically 4-12 months though
