Our Story and FAQ’s

We are John and Eden, we moved from Sussex in August 2021 to expand and diversify our growing flock. Although both fresh to hill farming, John’s family hold a history of livestock farming in the South of England, whilst Eden takes the title of 1st generation farmer from her family. Eden got involved with farming when she met John and then became a self-employed shepherdess before they both moved to Lancashire.

The Lancashire hills have provided us with the ideal environment to home our 110 head of cattle (mainly Belted Galloway, Angus and Hereford), 400 breeding ewes, pigs and goats alongside a few chickens, 4 donkeys and our working dogs and cat.

Most of the meat we sell is born and bred on our farm, however, sometimes we have to source some from a neighbouring farmer or friend who we trust. We will of course make sure they are paid a fair price.

All our animals are slaughtered in a local, family-run abattoir. Our lamb is hung for a minimum of 7 days, and the beef is hung for a minimum of 21 days (pork does not need to hang). Our local butcher then prepares the meat, once ready, we then package it up ready to be sent to you on your chosen delivery day via APC Overnight or Royal Mail.

We can deliver across England, Wales and Scotland. We have Free delivery on all orders.

All our animals live outdoors for as much of the year as possible. Our cattle and pigs have to come indoors over winter or they would make too much of a mess in the fields so it would become dangerous for them.

Like all UK farms, none of our meat contains antibiotics or growth hormones.

We don’t inject our meat with water to bulk it out.

We don’t spray any pesticides on the fields or artificial fertiliser, but we don’t have organic status.

We use WoolCool boxes to ensure that the meat is kept cool during transit. WoolCool use sheep wool that has been washed and is then put into a protective bag. We then add ice packs to the box and the wool acts as a brilliant insulator to keep it all cool. Your ice packs may not have any ice in when they arrive, this is absolutely fine as long as the meat is cold enough. The ice brings down the air temperature in the box just like a fridge does.

What to do if my parcel is delayed? As soon as you realise there may be a delay with the couriers delivering your parcel, please contact them via their customer service number which can be found on Google. They are the best place to start. Your box should keep the meat cold enough until the next day (usually a Friday), but obviously we’d rather you got it on the day it was due to arrive. You may be able to get the driver to come back and re-attempt the delivery, or you may be able to collect it from the depot or a local shop. The courier can advise you what is possible. Failing that, please contact us and we can see what we can do from our end. Please note, it is your responsibility to be home for the delivery. If the courier tries to deliver, but you’re not home and there’s no safe place to leave the parcel, then we cannot replace or refund the item. None of our parcels are insured by the couriers as they’re perishable goods. However, if it doesn’t make it to you, or is damaged during transport we will refund/ replace it you can send us pictures/temperature reading. If you don’t put the correct address and don’t notify us before it is sent out, this may cause your parcel to be delayed, incur extra costs for re-directing, or fail to make it to you in time completely. It is your responsibility to put a full and correct address in when you place your order. We will not accept any liability for any parcels that aren’t delivered on time due to the address being wrong or incomplete. No refund or replacement will be given when you’ve not put the address in correctly.

Please always speak to us if you have any allergies.
